Why are comedians allowed to be rascist?

There's a difference between being racist and acknowledging stereotypes in a lighthearted way. Comedians are meant to entertain people, and most of the time they do comedy about their everyday lives. I ume that most aren't racist and say these kinds of things to make light of situations.
